What is color matching booth?


Color Matching Booth is used to assess color difference under different light sources. Light booth for color matching is widely used in textiles, toys, dyeing, plastics, paints, inks, printing, pigments, chemicals, footwear, leather, cosmetics, etc. and other color industries for goods color deviation.

Principle: Different color would appear on test samples due to the different energy radiant of different light sources. Usually, colour matching cabinet would have TL84 light source, D65, UV, F/A, CWF, U30. More light sources like D50, U35, TL83 and etc are available. Operator may assess the color difference by switching the light sources.


What lighting is best for color matching?

The best "true daylight, color balanced" fluorescent tubes, which are readily available, are at best a compromise. GE lighting consultants state that "if a color sample matches under 'daylight' fluorescent (lacks red) and under incandescent bulbs (lacks blue), then it should match under all conditions.

 Viewing Angle

-Method A: 45° viewing

Place the sample on the bottom plate of chamber, and view the sample in 45°      -Method B: 0° viewing

Place the sample on 45 fixed angle table, view the sample in 0°. That means viewing sample vertical with light.

Sample Position In The Chamber

No matter which viewing methods mentioned above is adopted, the sample should be place in the center of the chamber.

Environment Condition

Test should not be affected by other light sources except for the defined one. It is ideal to test in dark condition.

Requirements for Switching The Light Sources

Switch instantly without any delay.

Equipped with various kinds of light sources

Assess sample in different light sources

Record Lamp Usage Time

Once the lamp is used over 2000h or 1 year, it should be replaced.
